Ho Chi Minh City police shut down large counterfeit shoe ring

The Ho Chi Minh City (TP HCM) Police Economic Crime Division dismantled a large-scale operation producing and selling counterfeit footwear bearing the Nike, Adidas, Crocs and Gucci trademarks. More than 23,000 pairs of fake shoes, valued at over 2 billion Vietnamese dong, along with branding materials, equipment and accessories, were seized.

Five suspects were arrested and placed in preventive detention: workshop owners Đặng Phước Đạt (born 1996) and Vũ Thị Thu Thủy (born 1999), plus three employees, Vũ Thành Trung, Trần Thị Gấm and Nguyễn Tấn Trọng. The investigation indicates the ring operated from June 2025, employing about 14 workers to manufacture the counterfeit products, which were then distributed for illicit profit amounting to tens of billions of dong. Authorities are expanding the probe to identify suppliers and further distribution channels.

The bust is part of a broader government‑ordered campaign targeting counterfeit goods and violations of intellectual‑property rights, aiming to protect legitimate businesses and consumers.
