Ho Chi Minh City ranked second globally in coffee travel index
Ho Chi Minh City has been ranked as the second-best coffee destination in the world for 2026, according to the Coffee Travel Index released by Holafly. The city surpassed major global hubs such as Melbourne, Australia, and Rome, Italy.
The ranking evaluated 18 global destinations based on five criteria: coffee heritage and origin, density of coffee shops, coffee tourism infrastructure, specialty coffee prices, and global coffee demand. Ho Chi Minh City earned 66.8 points, driven by its unique Robusta coffee heritage, diverse coffee culture, and affordable pricing. The index noted the city’s charm lies in the contrast between traditional street-side stalls with plastic stools and modern, air-conditioned specialty roasteries.
Colombia’s Eje Cafetero region secured the top position with 71.4 points, followed by Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in third place. In Ho Chi Minh City, a traditional iced coffee or manual brew costs approximately 2 USD (50,000 VND), making it an accessible destination for international travelers.
