Ho Chi Minh City residents can use Google Maps to avoid flooding and traffic

Residents of Ho Chi Minh City can utilize Google Maps to navigate around traffic congestion and localized flooding during the rainy season. By activating the traffic layer, users can view real-time road conditions indicated by color coding: green for normal flow, orange for slow traffic, and red or dark red for heavy congestion.

During heavy rainfall, sudden red zones in typically clear areas may indicate rising water levels that cause vehicles to slow down or stall. Users are advised to compare the suggested primary route with alternative gray-colored routes. Choosing a slightly longer path through higher ground can often be safer and faster than following a shorter route prone to flooding.
