Ho Chi Minh City restructures public schools into multi‑level institutions

The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has issued a directive to dissolve and reorganise a number of public schools, merging them into larger, multi‑level schools with several campuses. The plan aims to streamline management, improve use of facilities and align with the two‑tier local‑government model now in force.

Under the scheme, Nam Sài Gòn High School will be restructured into a single public institution that includes elementary, lower‑secondary and high‑school levels, based in the new Nam Sài Gòn urban area. The school’s assets, staff and students will be transferred to the new entity, with rights and qualifications preserved. The Education and Training Department, together with the Internal Affairs, Finance and ward authorities, will finalize pilot merger plans and target enrollment for the 2026‑2027 academic year.
