Ho Chi Minh City rolls out citywide electronic health records and 150‑day health check program

On 16 July, Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam launched an intensive 150‑day/ night health‑screening campaign that aims to provide free comprehensive examinations to its 14 million residents. The initiative is coordinated by the City Health Department and the Digital Transformation Center and introduces an electronic health‑record (EHR) feature on the “Citizen” mobile app, built in partnership with technology firm FPT. Each citizen’s exam results are uploaded to the EHR for continuous, lifelong monitoring. By 15 July, more than 534 000 people had been examined and had their records created, with daily capacity exceeding 25 000 examinations. Over 480 health facilities – hospitals, clinics and health stations – and more than 10 000 medical staff are participating. A citizen said the free exam and the stored electronic record are “very meaningful” for long‑term health tracking. The city expects the numbers to rise rapidly as the program approaches its final months.

The rollout reflects Ho Chi Minh’s broader digital‑health transformation, aiming for a complete, lifelong health‑picture for every resident.
