Ho Chi Minh City sees holiday traffic jams and smooth airport travel

During the National Day holiday period in Vietnam, travelers in Ho Chi Minh City are experiencing a mix of heavy road congestion and relatively smooth airport operations.

On the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway, traffic backed up approximately 10 kilometers on Saturday morning, stretching from the An Phu interchange to the Long Phuoc toll station. The gridlock spilled onto connecting routes such as Vo Chi Cong and Nguyen Duy Trinh Streets, causing significant delays for motorists heading toward destinations like Vung Tau, Lam Dong, and Khanh Hoa.

In contrast, Tan Son Nhat International Airport has maintained smooth operations despite a significant increase in passenger volume. During the peak holiday period, the airport is expected to handle an average of 130,000 passengers and 780 flights per day, representing a 16 percent increase in passengers and a 12 percent increase in flights compared to the previous year. The improved efficiency is attributed to the increased capacity provided by the operation of Domestic Terminal 3.
