Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport hosts AI in education seminar

Tien Phong Newspaper and the Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport hosted a seminar titled ‘AI teaches efficiency, who teaches humanity?’ on October 9. The event brought together experts, lecturers, and students to discuss the integration of artificial intelligence in higher education.

Participants addressed the challenges AI poses to academic integrity and the risk of students becoming overly dependent on technology. Experts noted that while AI can assist with research, translation, programming, and report writing, it creates difficulties in assessing a student's true capabilities. Discussions focused on whether educational institutions should ban AI or instead reform teaching and examination methods to ensure students can still verify and defend the work they produce.

Cybersecurity expert Nguyen Hung highlighted the risks regarding information verification and personal data protection, while educational psychology expert Che Da Thao warned of the potential decline in independent thinking and self-study motivation due to improper AI usage.
