Ho-Ho e o Som do Brasil animation unites Brazil and China
The animation series ‘Ho-Ho e o Som do Brasil’ is a new co-production between Brazil and China, designed to showcase Brazilian music and culture to a global audience. The project is a collaboration between Amorim Filmes, LC Barreto, and the CCTV Animation Group of China Media Group.
As part of the official initiatives for the 2026 Brazil–China Cultural Year, the series aims to use music as a bridge between the two nations. The project was inspired by the vision of producer Luiz Carlos Barreto, who passed away in April at age 97, and was brought to fruition by director João Amorim.
The first complete episode is scheduled for its premiere on October 5, 2026, at RioMarket during the Festival do Rio. Following this, the series is expected to debut on TV Cultura in November 2026. The production plan includes four seasons and a feature film. The project is sponsored by BNDES and supported by the Brazilian Ministry of Culture and the Federal Government.
