Ho Technical University Clinic upgraded to primary hospital
The Health Facilities Regulatory Agency (HeFRA) has upgraded the Ho Technical University (HTU) Clinic to a Primary Hospital following a formal inspection. The facility, which originated as a sick bay, has expanded to provide essential healthcare services to both the university community and the general public.
According to Divine Kporha, the Volta Regional Director of HeFRA, the upgrade reflects the facility's increasing capacity and growing public confidence. In 2025, the clinic recorded 24,846 Out-Patient Department attendances, 1,500 Antenatal Care attendances, 154 deliveries, and 1,633 Child Welfare Clinic attendances. The facility also achieved its first successful delivery of triplets in 2026.
HeFRA officials noted that their role includes supporting health facilities to meet required standards for safe and quality healthcare. The milestone was acknowledged by HTU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ben Honyenuga and Medical Director Dr. Redeemer Fiebor.
