Vietnam business sector shows mixed Q3 2026 financial results
The first nine months of 2026 have yielded divergent financial outcomes across various Vietnamese industries. In the energy and mining sector, Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV) reported a 15% increase in revenue, with 44.06 million tons of coal consumed. Meanwhile, the oil and gas transport sector saw significant growth for PVTrans, which recorded a 60.61% increase in after-tax profit for the first nine months, though other firms like Vitaco faced profit declines due to maintenance and cost pressures.
The retail and consumer sectors displayed varying trends. Major retailers like MWG saw a 93% increase in after-tax profit, and Vincom Retail reported a daily profit of nearly 17 billion VND. Conversely, jewelry retailer PNJ reported a significant loss of approximately 996 billion VND over the last two quarters, attributed to gold price volatility and changing market demand. In the pharmaceutical sector, companies like Domesco and Vidipha saw growth, while DHG experienced a sharp decline in profit.
In real estate, Sunshine Group reported a nine-month pre-tax profit exceeding 5.9 trillion VND, and Novaland achieved a profit of over 2.8 trillion VND, surpassing its annual plan. Additionally, Hoa Phat Group contributed over 12 trillion VND to the state budget during this period, driven by strong steel production.
