Hanoi authorities investigate food safety concerns at Hoai Duc Primary School

The Hanoi Department of Education and Training has ordered an urgent investigation into allegations regarding the origin of food used in school meals at Hoai Duc Primary School. The probe follows protests by parents who discovered packaging for imported Indian buffalo meat and frozen chicken near the facility of Mai Phuong Food Co., Ltd., the provider of school meals for the Di Trach campus.

Parents gathered at the provider's location early on October 27, expressing concerns that these imported frozen products were being used in student meals. The situation led to confrontations between parents and company staff when access to a nearby warehouse was denied.

Initial reports from Hoai Duc commune authorities indicate that while records for Indian buffalo meat were not found in the company's submitted documentation, invoices were provided for frozen chicken and Argentine beef. The company clarified that these specific items were intended for retail customers and not for the school's meal service. Local officials are continuing to verify the ownership of the warehouse in question and the exact origin of all food supplies to ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
