Hofstetter Turbo wins international award in Argentina
The 1986 Hofstetter Turbo, a rare Brazilian sports car, has received a special award at the AutoClásica 2026 event in San Isidro, Argentina. Belonging to the Dream Car Museum in São Roque, Brazil, the vehicle is recognized as the first Brazilian-designed classic car to win a prize at an international competition of this scale.
Designed by Mário Richard Hofstetter, the car features a mid-mounted turbo engine, fiberglass bodywork, scissor doors, and pop-up headlights. The project was inspired by Italian concept cars such as the Alfa Romeo Carabo and the Maserati Boomerang. The Hofstetter was built using a custom tubular chassis incorporating components from the Volkswagen Passat and Chevrolet Chevette.
In addition to the Hofstetter, the Dream Car Museum also showcased a 1979 Concorde in Argentina. The Concorde is a large vehicle inspired by 1930s designs, measuring 5.20 meters in length and powered by a Ford Galaxie V8 engine. Only 25 units of the Concorde were produced between 1976 and 1985.
