Hogar de Cristo reports daily assistance to 250 people in Atacama

The Hogar de Cristo institution presented its 2025 public accountability report in Copiapó, marking 60 years of presence in the Atacama region. During the last year, the organization provided daily assistance to 250 people in vulnerable situations through various services focused on protection, support, and social inclusion.

In the Atacama region, the institution operates seven service units and maintains a network of 971 participants, 6,500 members, 32 volunteers, and 40 workers. This work is supported by a collaborative network of between 40 and 50 public and private institutions, organizations, and companies.

Carol Calderón, the Territorial Social Operations Chief, stated that combating poverty requires more than just financial resources, emphasizing the need for community involvement, opportunities, and social bonds. The organization utilizes an integrated service model that addresses multiple dimensions of life, including health, housing, and education, through customized accompaniment plans.
