Hohenau minors hospitalized after consuming cannabis brownies

Four minors, including three children aged 4, 6, and 8 and a 14-year-old adolescent, were hospitalized in Hohenau, Itapúa, after consuming brownies containing cannabis. The incident occurred in the Los Colonos district after the children ate the dessert, which had been stored in a refrigerator.

Medical professionals reported that the minors exhibited symptoms such as tachycardia, dizziness, nausea, respiratory difficulty, and altered consciousness. Blood tests confirmed the presence of cannabis metabolites. While the children have responded favorably to treatment and some have been discharged, the 14-year-old remained under medical observation due to more severe symptoms.

The Public Ministry has launched an investigation to clarify the circumstances. Family members indicated the brownies were prepared by an aunt who recently arrived from Argentina. Authorities and child protection services have been notified to follow up on the case and investigate the origin of the substance.
