Hohenems traffic accident involves two vehicles and suspected drunk driving

A two-vehicle collision occurred on the L203 Lustenauer Straße in Hohenems on Saturday morning, September 5, 2026. The accident took place around 10:45 AM when a 54-year-old driver attempted to turn right into a field path, resulting in a collision with a following vehicle driven by a 51-year-old.

Both vehicles veered off the road and came to a stop in a roadside water ditch. The 54-year-old driver sustained injuries of an undetermined degree, while the 51-year-old driver was uninjured. Both vehicles sustained significant material damage and required recovery from the ditch.

Following the incident, a police sobriety test for the 54-year-old driver returned a positive result for alcohol. Emergency responders, including the Hohenems fire department with 25 personnel, medical teams, and police, attended the scene. Traffic on the L203 was restricted during the recovery operations.
