Hoi An coastal erosion prevention project accelerates construction

Contractors are accelerating the construction of a hard sea dike in Hoi An to combat coastal erosion before the peak of the storm and rainy season. The project, valued at over 214 billion VND, is part of an emergency effort to protect the coastline and the Thu Bon River area in An Luong.

The dike spans approximately 1,950 meters and is divided into three distinct zones. Currently, the project has reached about 80% of its contract value. Work is being carried out by three construction teams utilizing roughly 80 workers and various heavy machines, operating continuously to compensate for delays caused by previous heavy rain and large waves.

Construction began on May 20, 2026. The contractor aims to complete all construction tasks by October 20 and hand over the project by October 30. Local authorities have emphasized the importance of completing erosion prevention works to ensure safety during the upcoming storm season.
