Hoi An heritage and e-commerce development in Vietnam
A scientific seminar held in Da Nang focused on the 555-year history of Hoi An and the Quang Nam region (1471–2026). The workshop aimed to clarify the historical and cultural values of the former international trading hub and propose solutions for preserving its heritage within modern development spaces.
Separately, the role of e-commerce in revitalizing traditional craft villages is being highlighted as a tool for economic transition and cultural preservation. Models from China, such as “e-commerce villages” that link production, tourism, and local culture, and Japan’s use of cross-border e-commerce to reach global markets, serve as examples of how digital platforms can help traditional artisans overcome aging populations and declining domestic demand.
