Hoi An International Lantern Festival to debut in December 2026

Vietnam’s historic town of Hoi An will host its first International Lantern Festival from 3‑6 December 2026. The four‑day event will be staged at Hoai River Square, the An Hoi Sculpture Garden, along the Hoai River and across several streets of the Ancient Town. An opening ceremony will combine artistic performances on land and on the river, and about 15 large‑scale lantern clusters will be installed in public spaces.

The programme includes lantern‑making workshops, a culinary arena showcasing Hoi An’s flavors, exhibitions on lantern art and heritage regeneration, a nighttime lantern procession, talks on traditional crafts, and photography and design contests. An exhibition space featuring the installations is slated to remain open until the First Full Moon Festival in early 2027. In parallel, Da Nang’s administration will run Hoi An Creative Week from 28 August to 2 September 2026, focusing on the city’s creative ecosystem, craft‑village digital transformation and AI experiences for children.
