Hoima City Woman MP election petition hearing set for October

The Hoima High Court has scheduled October 1 and 2, 2026, for the hearing of a petition challenging the election of Hoima City Woman Member of Parliament, Asinansi Nyakato.

The petition was filed by Princess Diana Mugenyi, the NRM candidate from the January 2026 general elections. Mugenyi is seeking to have Nyakato’s victory nullified and a fresh election ordered, alleging bribery, voter manipulation, and non-compliance with electoral laws. According to gazetted results, Nyakato won with 17,142 votes against Mugenyi’s 15,197.
