Hojae Lee signs for SV Darmstadt 98

South Korean striker Hojae Lee has joined 2. Bundesliga club SV Darmstadt 98 from the Pohang Steelers. The 25‑year‑old arrived on a free transfer, taking the number 9 shirt. In his previous season he scored 15 goals in 34 league matches and has already added eight goals in 20 appearances for his new club.

Sporting director Paul Fernie said Lee is a “physically strong forward with good finishing ability who can act as a target man”, while Lee expressed excitement about continuing his career in Germany, saying he is “eager to repay the club’s trust with goals”. The signing follows Darmstadt’s ongoing search for a replacement for forward Isac Lidberg and comes amid speculation about other possible attackers.
