HOKA launches borough-based running competition in New York
HOKA has launched the ‘Run Your City’ challenge in New York, a month-long competition running throughout September. Hosted on the Strava app, the initiative encourages runners across the five boroughs—Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Staten Island—to compete to see which area can log the most miles.
The campaign integrates user data into its marketing through digital out-of-home (OOH) displays. Weekly updates, including miles logged and pace, will be showcased on ticker-inspired screens in locations such as Times Square, Tribeca, SoHo, and Williamsburg.
Developed by the digital marketing agency Jellyfish, the campaign aims to bring HOKA’s ‘Together We Fly Higher’ brand platform to life by making the running community's activity a central part of the creative. The activation also includes a creator program and paid social media efforts on platforms like TikTok and Meta to engage fitness enthusiasts.
