Hoka launches Clifton Pro and Speedgoat 7 running shoes

Hoka introduced the Clifton Pro on 9 July, pricing the new trainer at €170. The model replaces the classic EVA midsole with a super‑critical EVA called ProGlide+, adds a more aggressive MetaRocker geometry and a higher stack height (42 mm heel, 34 mm forefoot) with an 8 mm drop. Compared with the standard Clifton it is firmer, more propulsive and exceeds the 40 mm height limit set for elite road‑race footwear, making it an intense training shoe rather than a competition‑legal racing model.

The brand also released the Speedgoat 7, a trail shoe that addresses complaints about the previous Speedgoat 6’s excessive firmness. It again uses a super‑critical EVA midsoles for a softer, more dynamic feel, retains the thick Vibram Megagrip outsole for protection on rugged terrain, and is designed for long‑distance trail and ultra‑trail runs. The updated toe box remains narrow, and the shoe emphasizes cushioning to reduce fatigue over many kilometres.
