Hoka Tecton X 4 trail shoe features dual carbon plates

Hoka has released the Tecton X 4, a carbon-plated trail racing shoe designed for speed and stability on technical terrain. The shoe features dual parallel carbon fiber plates and two layers of PEBA midsole foam, including a softer compound directly under the foot to enhance responsiveness.

Key technical updates include a Matryx Micro textile upper, which is designed to be hydrophobic, breathable, and durable to prevent blistering and material stretching. The design aims to balance propulsion with the stability required for steep climbs and uneven surfaces, such as those found in ultra-marathons.

While the shoe offers high performance, grip via a Vibram sole, and quick drainage, reviewers noted that the tight opening can make it difficult to put on and the upper may allow some dust and sand to enter.
