Hokota City launches mystery‑solving temple tour for families
Hokota City in Ibaraki Prefecture has started a family‑oriented educational program called “Hokota de Nazo‑toki Ryokō” (Hokota mystery‑travel). Running from August 1 to November 30, the initiative is part of the “Larakation” concept that blends learning with vacation. Participants receive a booklet and, accompanied by a parent, visit a series of local shrines and temples, learning about the area’s history and culture. The program costs 500 yen per booklet and offers original novelty items, with an additional reward for those who complete all sites.
The activity is organized by the Hokota City Tourism and Products Association and is intended to provide a hands‑on learning experience for elementary‑through‑high‑school students during the summer break, supporting both school projects and family outings.
