Holambra Expoflora festival triggers major traffic operation
The 43rd Expoflora, one of Latin America's largest flower and ornamental plant festivals, is expected to attract over 280,000 visitors to Holambra through September 27. To manage the increased traffic, the Department of Roads (DER-SP) has launched 'Operação Holambra 2026' to ensure safety and flow on access routes.
The Prefeito Aziz Lian Highway (SP-107) serves as the primary access point and is projected to handle approximately 47,371 vehicles during the event weekends, marking a 6.1% increase from the previous edition. DER-SP will deploy 127 employees and 31 vehicles—including support units, fire fighting vehicles, tow trucks, and motorcycles—to monitor the stretch between km 10 and km 45.4.
Traffic management measures include enhanced signaling, access control, shoulder clearance, and permanent monitoring to minimize congestion and accidents. The increased movement is also expected to impact the SP-340 highway, a major connection in the interior of São Paulo state.
