Holbæk Municipality seeks public input for new biogas plant location
Holbæk Municipality has launched an open dialogue process to determine the location for a new biogas plant. Following a decision by the municipal council last year, the municipality aims to define the role of biogas in its future energy supply and identify a suitable site by 2026.
To ensure transparency, the municipality is inviting citizens, landowners, local forums, businesses, and associations to provide suggestions and input. A public meeting is scheduled for August 26 at the Holbæk Library to discuss the background of the project, political decisions, and the minimum criteria for potential sites. These criteria include site size, proximity to the road network, distance from residential areas, and impact on nature, landscape, and cultural history.
Jarl Falk Sabroe, Chairman of the Climate, Environment, and Nature Committee, emphasized the importance of early involvement to address potential concerns regarding odor, traffic, and proximity to homes. The municipality noted that local knowledge is essential before the municipal council decides which areas to pursue further.
