Holcim launches CZK 1 billion low-carbon cement line in Čížkovice

Holcim has launched a new calcined clay production line at its plant in Čížkovice, Czech Republic, marking the company’s largest investment in the country at approximately CZK 1 billion (CHF 40 million). This facility is the first of its kind in the Czech Republic.

The new line utilizes patented technology to partially replace clinker with calcined clay sourced from a local quarry. This process is expected to reduce the carbon footprint of the cement by approximately 30% without compromising performance. The plant will enable the supply of 580,000 tons of ECOPlanet low-carbon cement annually.

Of the total investment, CZK 330 million (CHF 13 million) was funded by the Czech Republic’s Modernization Fund through the Ministry of the Environment. The project is part of Holcim’s NextGen Growth 2030 strategy to scale up sustainable construction solutions globally.
