Holger Rune receives wild card for European Open in Brussels

Holger Rune has been awarded a wild card for the European Open in Brussels, an ATP 250 tournament scheduled from October 19 to 25. The Danish player is seeking his first ATP Tour victory since returning from an 11-month absence caused by a serious Achilles tendon injury.

Rune recently competed in the Davis Cup for Denmark, where he secured wins against Iliyan Radulov and Grigor Dimitrov. However, his subsequent appearances on the ATP Tour in Tokyo and Shanghai resulted in first-round losses to Kyrian Jacquet and Daniel Altmaier, respectively.

The Brussels tournament features a competitive field, including Félix Auger-Aliassime, Casper Ruud, Arthur Fils, and local player David Goffin. Rune expressed gratitude for the opportunity, noting the necessity of regular match play to rebuild rhythm and confidence following his rehabilitation.
