Holger Rune secures Davis Cup victories in comeback performance

Holger Rune has made a successful return to competitive tennis during the Davis Cup weekend, securing two singles victories. After defeating Iliyan Radulov 6-3, 6-3, the Dane overcame Grigor Dimitrov with a 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(4) victory in a match lasting over two hours.

Rune expressed surprise at his physical resilience following his recovery from an Achilles tendon injury. He noted that his body responded better than expected to the consecutive matches and the tactical challenges posed by the former world number three.

Currently ranked 185th, Rune is focusing on a comeback tour including tournaments in Tokyo, Shanghai, Basel, Paris, and Stockholm. He also commented on his peers, describing Jannik Sinner as an unstoppable machine and noting that while players like Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev are highly consistent, he does not view them as invincible.
