Holiday and school vacation planning for 2026 and 2027 in Germany

Planning for upcoming holidays and school breaks in Germany, specifically within Baden-Württemberg, offers various opportunities for extended time off.

In 2027, strategic use of bridge days can maximize vacation time. For example, since New Year's Day falls on a Friday, taking four days of leave can result in ten consecutive days off. In states such as Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, and Saxony-Anhalt, combining New Year's with Epiphany (Heilige Drei Könige) on Tuesday, January 6, allows for a ten-day break using only four vacation days.

For the 2026 school year in Baden-Württemberg, key vacation periods include Easter holidays from March 30 to April 11, Pentecost holidays from May 26 to June 5, and summer holidays from July 30 to September 12. The autumn break is scheduled for October 26 to October 30, followed by Christmas holidays from December 23, 2026, to January 9, 2027.
