Holiday festivities and market changes announced in Tilburg and Haarlem
In the Netherlands, preparations for the holiday season are underway through different local initiatives. In Tilburg, Natuurlijk Tilburg will open its expanded Kerst-Discounter on October 3. The opening event features Roy Donders and includes a two-hour window of 30% discounts on all Christmas items.
Meanwhile, in Haarlem, the city council has voted to outsource the organization of the Haarlem Christmas market starting in 2028. While this year and next year will follow the current organizational structure, a new external party will eventually manage the event with a maximum budget of 325,000 euros. Local political debate has centered on maintaining the market's atmosphere and managing crowds, with some officials suggesting the event be spread across more squares and weeks to reduce congestion.
