Holiday Inn hotel fire in Wembley leads to evacuations

A fire broke out at a 13-storey Holiday Inn hotel on Empire Way in Wembley on Friday afternoon. The London Fire Brigade received 29 emergency calls, with the first report arriving just after 12:30 pm.

Approximately 40 firefighters and six fire engines from stations including Park Royal, Willesden, and Northolt responded to the scene. Crews managed to bring the blaze under control by 1:21 pm. Around 150 people were evacuated from the building, which is believed to house asylum seekers. No injuries or casualties have been reported.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
