Holiday Park & Resort faces charges from Polish consumer watchdog
The Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) has brought charges against the Holiday Park & Resort chain for violating collective consumer interests. The investigation focuses on two main areas: the presentation of prices during the booking process and the use of unfair terms in reservation regulations.
UOKiK alleges that the company used a practice of “revealing the price in pieces,” which prevented consumers from accurately comparing offers and assessing the true cost of their stay. Specifically, the company reportedly displayed low initial rates that did not include mandatory fees. For example, a nightly rate might appear low at the start of a booking, only to increase significantly later in the process.
Furthermore, the regulator found that mandatory cleaning fees were presented as “optional upgrades,” and customers were not informed about utility fees during the reservation process. The investigation also addresses terms in the company’s regulations that allegedly allow for the unilateral change of booking conditions, even for reservations that have already been made.
