Holland America Line expands 2028 European cruise season with record port calls

Holland America Line has opened bookings for its 2028 Europe season, running from January through early December 2028. The program features the line’s highest number of European port calls in nearly a decade, with record visits to Norway, Spain, Ireland and the Netherlands. Guests can explore more than 200 UNESCO World Heritage sites, including Norway’s fjords, and experience each destination through regional cuisine, local traditions and immersive shore excursions.

Five ships – Rotterdam, Nieuw Statendam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Volendam and Zuiderdam – will operate the season, offering itineraries that range from seven‑day getaways to 48‑day “Legendary” voyages. Routes cover Northern Europe, the Mediterranean, the Canary Islands and transatlantic crossings, with options for extended stays, overnight calls and late‑night departures to maximize time in historic capitals, fjord communities and sun‑soaked coastal towns.

Vice President Paul Grigsby said the schedule is built around seasonal moments, such as spring blooms in the Netherlands and winter escapes in the Mediterranean, allowing travelers to experience Europe in a different way each time of year.
