Holland America Line's Zuiderdam to Resume European Cruises in 2028 After Major Refurbishment

Holland America Line announced that the Vista‑class ship Zuiderdam will re‑enter service on 2 April 2028 following a comprehensive overhaul under the Holland America Evolution programme, the line’s largest investment in its fleet in more than a century.

The refurbished vessel will launch with Mediterranean itineraries that include ports such as Rome, Barcelona, Lisbon, Marseille and Valencia. After the Mediterranean season, Zuiderdam will be based out of Amsterdam for the summer, sailing to the Norwegian fjords, Iceland and Greenland and offering a series of Northern‑European voyages.

The upgrade adds several new accommodation types: Solo Verandah staterooms for single travellers, Bridgeview Suites, refreshed Vista Suites and a completely redesigned Pinnacle Suite. Existing cabins have been renovated and the popular Grand Dutch Café will return on board. Holland America Line President Beth Bodensteiner said the ship’s return “highlights the extraordinary diversity of Europe and celebrates our Dutch heritage.”
