Holland Taylor discusses departure from Two and a Half Men

Actress Holland Taylor has revealed that she chose to let her contract expire after six seasons of the CBS sitcom ‘Two and a Half Men’ due to compensation disputes and a desire for professional freedom.

Speaking on the ‘Alchemy with Anthony Mason’ podcast, Taylor explained that despite receiving four Emmy nominations for her role as Evelyn Harper, the network did not offer salary increases that reflected her contributions or the show’s success. She noted that her pay remained at levels similar to what she had earned eight years prior.

When negotiations stalled, Taylor informed producers she did not wish to remain under a long-term contract but offered to return for occasional guest appearances. She stated that producers were astonished by her decision to decline a renewal, as she opted to transition from a core cast member to a guest star.
