HollyShorts Film Festival celebrates independent cinema and FarEye

The 22nd Annual HollyShorts Film Festival in Los Angeles recently concluded, celebrating independent short films and providing a platform for emerging filmmakers to connect with industry professionals.

Among the featured works is the Caribbean drama “FarEye,” directed by British-Jamaican filmmaker Hayden Mclean. The film, which has previously screened at Raindance and Palm Springs International ShortFest, was an official selection at the Oscar-qualifying festival. Shot on location in Jamaica with a local cast and crew, the story follows a young Jamaican boy seeking refuge in a Rastafarian community. Mclean noted that the project aims to contribute to a “richer cinematic language for the Caribbean.”

The festival's closing night also highlighted industry figures and attendees, including actress Katherine McNamara and producer Lauren Lukow, as the event wrapped its annual showcase of cinema under 40 minutes.
