HollyShorts Film Festival returns for 22nd year

The 22nd annual HollyShorts Film Festival is scheduled to take place from August 13 to August 23. The Academy Awards and BAFTA-qualifying event will be held both in-person at venues including the TCL Chinese Theatre and Ovation Hollywood, and online.

Featured in the festival is the Los Angeles premiere of the animated short "Cracked" by Lebanese-American filmmaker Jessica Rizk. The five-minute 2D animation, which required 7,000 hand-drawn frames over two years to complete, explores themes of alienation and dissociation in urban life. The film is scheduled to screen as part of the Animation I Block on August 14.
