Netflix premieres Hollywood Arts, a Victorious spin-off

Netflix has released ‘Hollywood Arts’, a twelve-episode spin-off of the Nickelodeon sitcom ‘Victorious’. The series features Daniella Monet returning as Trina Vega, the older sister of the original protagonist, Tori Vega. In this new iteration, Trina serves as a substitute teacher at her former performing arts school, attempting to navigate her own career struggles while interacting with a new generation of students.

While the original lead, Victoria Justice, does not appear on screen, the series establishes that her character has become an internationally famous pop star. Tori’s influence remains at the school through a preserved locker and a significant financial donation to the institution. The cast also includes the return of Matt Bennett as Robbie, who is now a teacher at the school.

The production notably moves forward without the involvement of original creator Dan Schneider, following recent public controversies and documentaries regarding the work environment at Nickelodeon. The new series focuses on a diverse student cast, including characters such as Emmy, Qwest, Pepper, and Jen Z.
