Hollywood celebrities defend ‘Digger’ film

The new film ‘Digger’, starring Tom Cruise and directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, has received a wave of support from prominent Hollywood figures despite mixed reviews and a slow start at the box office. The dark comedy, which follows an oil tycoon whose actions lead to environmental catastrophe, has faced criticism from traditional outlets.

In response, industry figures including Anne Hathaway, Mandy Patinkin, Glen Powell, Jane Fonda, and Ron Howard have defended the film’s artistic ambition. Filmmakers Guillermo del Toro and Alfonso Cuarón also voiced support, with Cuarón comparing the current critical backlash to the historical reception of classics like ‘Blade Runner’ and ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’.
