Hollywood film 'Snake Island' filming in Zagreb

Hollywood production 'Snake Island' is currently filming in Zagreb, Croatia, featuring actors Adrien Brody and Sean Penn. Directed by Doug Liman, the thriller is inspired by the 2022 Nord Stream pipeline sabotage and follows a team of Ukrainian divers during the geopolitical tensions preceding the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The production has transformed central Zagreb, specifically the area around the Esplanade Hotel, into a war zone set complete with sandbags, barricades, and extras in Ukrainian military uniforms. The crew is scheduled to spend 19 filming days in Croatia, moving from Zagreb to Pula to conclude filming in early September.

Chris Marcich, director of the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, noted that such international productions are part of a long-standing incentive program that has attracted over 300 million euros in investment to Croatia over the past 14 years. Beyond direct spending on logistics and accommodation, these projects provide significant professional development for local film crews and trainees working alongside international experts.
