Holmby wins Grade 3 Sorrento Stakes at Del Mar

Holmby, a two-year-old filly trained by Bob Baffert for By Talla Racing, won the Grade 3 Sorrento Stakes at Del Mar. Ridden by Juan Hernandez, Holmby entered the race as the post-time favorite.

During the six-furlong dash on a fast track, Holmby tracked the leader, Ruiva, before engaging in a stretch duel. Holmby ultimately prevailed by a neck or approximately a half-length with a final time of 1:10.73. Ruiva, trained by Wesley Ward, finished second, while Crazy Hot Mess took third.

An Indiana-bred by Corniche, Holmby's victory marks her second career start and her first graded stakes win. Her lifetime record following the race stands at 2-2-0-0.
