Holocaust survivors share testimonies in Romania

Survivors and community members in Romania are sharing testimonies to commemorate the Holocaust and combat historical denialism.

In Bistrița, Natalia Țigăuan of the Bistrița Jewish Community Steering Committee spoke to students at the local synagogue about her family's experience. She recounted how her family was forced into an improvised ghetto in June 1944, and how only two of her five family members survived, while others perished in the Auschwitz extermination camp.

In another account, Lida Burihovici-Havas, a survivor in her nineties, detailed the atrocities she endured in the Transnistria ghettos and camps, including Domanovka, Bogdanovka, and Golta. She emphasized her duty to testify to ensure the experiences of Jews in Transnistria are not denied or silenced.
