HoloLab explores XR and robotics integration for physical AI
HoloLab Inc. is exploring the intersection of XR (Extended Reality) and physical AI, specifically focusing on the challenges of imitation learning in robotics. During a session at XR Kaigi Hub Nagoya, engineers discussed the intensive data collection required to teach robot arms tasks, such as folding a handkerchief. They noted that the process is significantly more labor-intensive than theoretical models suggest, requiring far more than the 50 demonstrations typically cited in research to achieve high success rates.
To address these challenges, HoloLab is utilizing XR technologies to bridge the gap between digital and physical environments. Examples include using the Apple Vision Pro for teleoperation of collaborative robots and employing 4-legged robots equipped with scanners for automated 3D environmental mapping.
Additionally, XREAL has announced its participation in the upcoming HoloLab Conference 2026, scheduled for October 23, 2026, in Tokyo. XREAL will showcase its latest AR glasses, including the xb x a01+ and XREAL 1S, as part of the event's focus on AI, XR, and 3D data utilization.
