Holthausen produces certified green hydrogen in the Netherlands
Holthausen Energy Point, part of the Holthausen Group, has become the second company in the Netherlands to produce and claim certified green hydrogen. The certification is achieved through a multi-year partnership with energy provider ENGIE, which supplies 100 percent renewable electricity traceable to the Windpark Jaap Rodenburg 2 in Almere.
To meet European RFNBO requirements, the companies established a five-year Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (CPPA). This agreement links Holthausen’s electricity consumption at a fifteen-minute level to the wind farm's production. This setup allows the company to utilize electrolysis to convert water into hydrogen using renewable energy, reducing dependence on fossil fuels. Holthausen is currently expanding its electrolysis capacity to five megawatts, with future ambitions to reach seven megawatts.
