Holy Archdiocese of Athens and Greek Ministry sign domestic violence prevention pact

The Holy Archdiocese of Athens and the Greek Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family have signed a memorandum of cooperation aimed at preventing domestic violence. The agreement was signed by Bishop Barnabas of Christoupolis, acting on behalf of Archbishop Ieronymos, and Deputy Minister Elena Rapti.

Through the Archdiocese's Youth and Family Foundation and the General Secretariat for Equality and Human Rights, the partnership will implement awareness campaigns, educational programs, and staff training on gender issues. These initiatives will take place within the parishes of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens and other participating Metropolises.

The cooperation focuses on three primary pillars: primary prevention by fostering a culture of zero tolerance toward violence against women; the support and empowerment of survivors; and ensuring improved access to necessary assistance and information for those experiencing violence.
