Holy Family Hospital launches free cancer cryoablation treatment
Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi has launched free cancer treatment using advanced cryoablation technology. The process involves freezing tumors at -180 degrees and then destroying them with 100-degree heat.
Initial supplies include 15 probes, each costing 1.6 million rupees and designed for single-use per patient. The treatment is specifically for patients with tumors up to 2 centimeters in size, targeting cancers of the liver, lungs, breast, and kidneys.
Patient selection is being coordinated across four hospitals: Holy Family Hospital, Benazir Bhutto Hospital, Rawalpindi Teaching Hospital, and the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI). Consultations will be conducted by specialists from Noori Hospital in Islamabad. The first phase will treat 15 patients, with more probes to be provided following this initial stage.
