Religious relics and icons arrive in Rethymno and Serres

Significant religious events took place across Greece involving the arrival of sacred relics and icons. In Rethymno, a multi-hierarchical Divine Liturgy was held at the Holy Church of the Four Holy Martyrs to welcome the miraculous icon of Panagia Soumela and relics of Saint Demetrios of Thessaloniki. The ceremony was led by Metropolitan Panteleimon of Veria, Naousa, and Campania, alongside the Metropolitans of Kissamos and Selinos, Kydonia and Apokoronos, and Rethymno and Avlopotamos.

Simultaneously, in Serres, the Holy Metropolis of Serres and Nigrita hosted the arrival of the Cross of the Great Komnenoi from the Panagia Soumela Monastery. Metropolitan Theologos presided over the reception at the Holy Temple of Saint Demetrios, where local officials and a large number of faithful gathered to venerate the relic.

These visits emphasize the spiritual connection between the Pontic Greek heritage and the local communities, particularly through the veneration of the Panagia Soumela icon.
