Holy Martyrs Trophimus, Savatius, and Dorimedeont commemorated
The Orthodox Church commemorates the Holy Martyrs Trophimus, Savatius, and Dorimedeont on October 2. These early Christian martyrs lived during the 3rd century under the reign of the Roman Emperor Probus.
According to religious tradition, Trophimus and Savatius were arrested in Antioch after refusing to participate in pagan ceremonies dedicated to the god Apollo. Following their refusal to renounce their faith, they were subjected to severe torture. Trophimus was sent to Phrygia to face the persecutor Dionysius, while Savatius remained in Antioch.
During his imprisonment, Trophimus encountered Dorimedeont, a Roman senator who secretly supported Christians. The group was eventually subjected to wild beasts and ultimately executed by beheading.
