Holy See and Venezuela advocate for Palestinian statehood at UN
During the United Nations General Assembly, representatives from the Holy See and Venezuela reaffirmed their support for a two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State for the Holy See, stated that a two-state solution based on internationally recognized borders is the only path to lasting peace. He described current diplomatic progress as “clearly insufficient” regarding the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, noting that over two million people live in extreme poverty due to military attacks. Parolin also expressed concern over the expansion of Israeli settlements and violence against Christian communities.
Similarly, Venezuelan Vice Minister Eduardo Ramírez ratified his country's support for Palestine to become a full member of the United Nations. Speaking at the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution meeting, Ramírez emphasized the need to strengthen Palestinian institutional and economic capacities while expanding international recognition of Palestinian statehood.
